Course 5 Analysis and summary

 *COURSE 5*

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ *VIGIL*

*ANALYSIS AND SUMMARY:*

VIGIL has to do with denying oneself sleep, especially at night, when it is customary to ENJOY sleep. So, it is a form of SACRIFICE imposed on oneself in order to seek for a HIGHER GOOD from God. Not only that Vigil is capable of releasing God's favours on the participants but vigil equally equips them with self-discipline.

Types of Vigil include:

All-night vigil, Candlelight vigil, Christian burial wake/Vigil, Liturgical Vigil.

Catholic Divine Project (CDP) has VIGIL as part and parcel of its life. This Vigil in CDP can be daily, monthly, occasional or even daily, especially the ones attached to various hours of prayers from midnight. In all, there about *30 vigils* that are observed annually in CDP.

We can trace VIGIL in the Bible, as there are many points that the Bible highlights the necessity of Vigil. For example, 1 Thessalonians 5:6 affirms: *“So then let us NOT SLEEP, as others do, but let us KEEP AWAKE and be sober."*

Some other Biblical passages on Vigil include: Exodus 12:42, James 5:7, Ephesians 6:18, Matthew 26:36, 1 Peter 5:8, Psalm 119:62.

Now, inasmuch as VIGIL is not a MUST for every Christian, yet it is highly recommended for our own temporal and spiritual benefits.

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ *The question now is, if you can keep awake to surf the internet, chat with friends on social media, watch videos, etc., why can't you keep VIGIL for prayers and to wait on God?*
